Stratos Expands to Serve Key Oil Gas Markets in West Africa Saudi Arabia and Latin America
Bethesda , Md. (August 6, 2007)- Stratos Global Corp. (TSX: SGB) today announced three strategic agreements that reinforce its status as o ne of the leading providers of remote communications solutions to the worldwide offshore oil and gas industry. The agreements expand Stratos' ability to serve important E&P customers in West Africa, Saudi Arabia and Latin America.
Agreement with JLP Targets West Africa
A partnership agreement with Angola-based JLP Engineering Solutions helps expand Stratos' business operations in the growing oil-producing region of West Africa. JLP Engineering Solutions S.A. (www.jlpeng.com) is an Angolan service company providing customers with tailored engineering solutions in telecommunications, network, security and telephony. Since 2004, Stratos has maintained a significant presence on the African continent, with regional offices in Cape Town, South Africa and Nairobi, Kenya – as well as a customer-support center in Equatorial Guinea. Stratos customers in the region include Bechtel and Marathon Oil Corp.
DETASAD Agreement Serves Saudi Arabian Market
Stratos has entered into an agreement with Detecon Al Saudia Co. Ltd. (DETASAD) to increase business opportunities throughout the Middle East. DETASAD ( www.detasad.com ) is affiliated with Deutsche Telekom Group and is one of the Middle East's leading providers of telecommunications services. The agreement provides Stratos with access to DETASAD's teleports in Riyadh, field service providers and an ultra-modern network operations center in Riyadh. Elsewhere in the region, Stratos recently expanded its business operations in Dubai by relocating its office to the new Al Shatha Tower in Internet City.
Stratos Teams with Comsat to Serve Latin American Customers
To provide extensive coverage and support for its Latin American customers, Stratos has teamed with Comsat International, Inc. ( www.comsatint.com). Comsat owns domestic networks in Central America, Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Mexico, Peru and Venezuela, and provides services via terrestrial and satellite links to Bolivia, Chile, Ecuador and Uruguay.
