Iridium® from Stratos

Iridium from Stratos is the only service that offers truly global satellite voice and data solutions with complete coverage of the earth (including oceans, airways and polar regions). The Iridium service is ideally suited for industries such as maritime, aviation, government/military, emergency/humanitarian services, mining, forestry, oil and gas, heavy equipment, transportation and utilities.

Handheld phones weighing less than one pound and global coverage—provided by 66 low-earth-orbiting satellites (LEO)—allow you to make and receive calls virtually anywhere in the world, needing only a clear line of sight to the sky. The Iridium constellation, which operates as a fully meshed network, is the largest commercial satellite constellation in the world. Iridium provides a complete telecommunications solution by combining voice, global paging and SMS and data service.

Iridium also offers flexible billing and flat rates for calls from anywhere to anywhere on earth. As with all Stratos services, we you a fully-supported International Customer Care Center, 24-hours a day, seven days a week.

  • Stratos Traffic and Billing Explorer (StratosTaB™): this application that gives you an update on your customer's usage every 24 hours. You can even use this application for (re) billing purposes.

  • Stratos Dashboard™ for Iridium:

    • Instant Online Self Provisioning: Activate your SIMs in minutes. Stratos Dashboard gives you the means to review your contracts and installed base, as well as the ability to instantly activate, de-activate and change service configurations.

Iridium Prepaid Services
 Prepaid SIM service, which can be used with all Iridium equipment, is ideal for situations where there is one phone and one user.

Restricted Countries
Iridium may not be sold in any U.S.-embargoed country. At present, the only country where Iridium is not allowed to physically register on the network is North Korea.

Iridium 9505A Handheld

If you work, live or travel in areas outside cellular coverage or in areas with inadequate landline service, Iridium from Stratos is for you. Eighty-six percent of the world's landmass and all of its oceans are in areas with inadequate landline service. Iridium addresses these situations by providing coverage in all ocean areas, air routes and landmasses—even the poles.

Stratos Iridium-based AFF service:

Stratos AFF provides safety and security of constant satellite tracking of your aircraft via Iridium's global satellite network. The Stratos flight tracking hardware works seamlessly with emerging and existing Iridium satellite equipment and can be customized to fit your individual needs.

With Stratos' web-based flight mapping there is no software to install and you can view your aircraft from any Internet-capable computer 24 hours a day.

Iridium World Paging Service
 Stratos offers global Iridium-based messaging through the Motorola Satellite SeriesTM 9501 Pager. Features include:

  • Stand-alone or Follow Me PagingTM
  • Alphanumeric messages up to 120 characters or numeric messages up to 20 digits
  • Transmission of mobile terminated messages to the pager via Internet or e-mail free of charge

Short Message Service (SMS)
 Receive and send short messages directly through the Iridium terminal and/or L-Band Transceiver (LBT).  Service features include:

  • Two-way global text messaging
  • Up to 160 alphanumeric characters in a single message

Beam Remote Satellite Terminal: RST100

The Remote Satellite Terminal RST100 is a richly-featured communications terminal providing intelligent voice, data and messaging communications. The RST100 is designed for all remote communication applications for mobile or fixed use: Maritime, Transport, Defence, Emergency Incorporates Call Logging. Beam Remote Satellite Modem: RST200
The RST200 is designed for all remote communications applications for mobile or fixed use: Maritime, Transport, Defense, Emergency Services, Mining, Construction, Telemetry and Security. The Beam Remote Satellite Voice/Data Modem provides remote environments with data/SCADA telecommunications access via the Iridium satellite network. The RST200 presents a DB9 serial data socket to the user, along with visual status information. The modem can also be used with an optional intelligent handset for voice communications.

The RST200 can easily be adapted for use with specialized applications.The Intelligent processor inside the RST200 lets you use remote commands or polling to retrieve data from the Log Port of the terminal. You can use this functionality along with SMS and/or Short Burst Data (SBD). It can also be adapted for applications such as polling GPS locations or taking readings from remote devices or digital inputs.

The RST terminal is supplied with a universal AC power supply. The unit can also be connected directly to an 11–32V DC input. An optional Beam Battery Backup can provide 48 hours standby time and 4 hours of talk time. The terminal is also capable of being solar powered.
